State tax credits
Oregon’s energy tax credit program was modified effective July 1, 2011 when the Oregon Legislature passed a new law revamping the state’s energy tax credit programs. The Oregon Department of Energy, which administers the tax credit programs, has published a summary of the Tax Credit Extension Bill (PDF) as well as a FAQ (PDF).
The former Business Energy Tax credit program has been significantly modified and some tax credits, especially those involving renewable energy generation, have been curtailed. But others involving conservation are still available and funded. The new program is split into its component parts:
- Renewable Energy Development
- Energy Conservation Projects
- Transportation Projects
Incentives for manufacturing improvements remain intact, but will now be administered by the Business Development Department. Visit the Oregon Department of Energy website for the latest information on tax credit program parameters and availability.
If you’re interested in completing and energy-efficiency project, there are still Energy Trust of Oregon Incentives, and Federal tax incentives may be applicable.
