Keeping products fresh is the name of game for Organically Grown Company, the Northwest’s largest distributor of organic produce. That’s why the growing company recently invested in high-efficiency refrigeration equipment when it expanded its Clackamas distribution center. High-efficiency dock seals, head seals and wall insulation, plus head pressure control valves and evaporator fan cycling controls are putting the chill on rising energy costs, saving more than $3,600 a year. Lighting upgrades completed at the same time are also harvesting energy savings by reducing heat generation inside refrigerated areas. With help from Energy Trust incentives, the payback on the refrigeration is just over one year.
